"Sometimes soldiers suck"

Films: Red Sands (2009)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Desert/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: Let's be honest, we're not exactly fond of how we keep sending our troops to countries that could do without all of the extra bloodshed. For those who go there to genuinely protect the populace, here's to you. To those there for less than savory reasons...it's your funeral.

History: In 2002, a small squadron of soldiers was sent to the deserts of Afghanistan to catch militant suppliers off-guard. Then one reckless sod shoots the head off an idol. He doesn't realize it, but he just released a demon of smokeless fire. A Djinn. And this Djinn likes nothing better than picking these intruders off one by one as vengeance for all they have killed in the past.

Notable Kills: All victims die with aghast expressions and no eyes. Also, see Final Fate.

Final Fate: After just about every soldier is killed, the last one is dragged beneath the sand and replaced by the Djinn, who heads to the US for unknown goals under his guise.

Powers/Abilities: Mind manipulation, shapeshifting, soul snatching.

Weakness: Can be imprisoned, apparently.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-A very powerful demon this Djinn is. Its visage is creepy with those sharp teeth and the mind games it plays are sure to break your sanity. A higher effects budget would have probably done this thing some more favors, though.

Trivia: -This film was meant to be thematically close to director Alex Turner's previous film, "Dead Birds".

-A third film involving similar beasts to the Dead Birds and the Djinn was going to be set in the future, but a lack of budget canned it.
